EMU | Engine Monitoring application

About LX navigation & EMU
LX Navigation, takes pride in developing cutting-edge products to enhance aviation safety and efficiency. Together we worked on the EMU Application, witch is meant for the Engine Monitor Unit manufactured by LX Navigation. EMU serves the purpose of providing pilots with comprehensive engine monitoring capabilities. The Displayed real-time data allows pilots to make informed decisions for optimal flight performance.

EMU sitemap
In order to maintain a clear and organized structure of the EMU project, we created a site map. It's primary goal was to provide our team with a bird's eye view of the project, helping us stay on track and effectively navigate through the app's structure and the relationships between different screens.

Dashboard page
The dashboard section of the EMU application displays key engine parameters such as RPM (rotations per minute), manifold pressure, cylinder head temperatures (CHT), exhaust gas temperatures (EGT), oil pressure, oil temperature, fuel flow, and more. These parameters are vital indicators of the engine's operation and performance.

Information display & widgets
Displaying information in widgets during flight is crucial in aviation as it allows pilots to access emphasised and critical data quickly, even in turbulent conditions. Widgets provide a compact, organised, and customizable way to maintain situational awareness. Widgets facilitate multitasking, they ensure vital information is visible and accessible, allowing for safe and efficient flight operations.

Guage widgets
Gauge widgets are highly suitable for displaying RPM (rotations per minut) and manifold pressure data in aviation due to their visual appeal, real-time monitoring capabilities, precise readings and ease of interpretation in turbulent conditions.

Histogram widgets
We presented data such as CHT (Cylinder Head Temperature), EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature), oil pressure, and water pressure using sleek histogram widgets. The decision to use histograms was driven by their slim and elongated form, allowing us to showcase a wealth of information within a limited space while ensuring excellent visibility.

Detailed view
Pilots can effortlessly access their flight data by tapping on the widget to trigger the detailed view. This presents valuable insights based on the recorded data from the flight, including CHT & EGT, RPM, MAP, Oil pressure, and more, displayed in a graphical form. This feature allows pilots to conduct analysis for better decision-making and enhanced flight performance in the future.

Product in use
Next, I present a section showcasing the final product in action. EMU made its debut at Narodni dom Celje, Slovenia, on February 17, 2024.
